On September 20, at the New Energy Vehicle Industry Innovation and Development Forum of the 2023 World Manufacturing Conference, the China Economic Information Service and the China Electric Vehicles Association of 100 jointly released the "China New Energy Vehicle Industry High-Quality Development Report 2023". The report shows that the annual sales volume of new energy vehicles will reach 10 million units in 2023, and the market sinking trend will become further clear.
After more than 10 years of steady development, new energy vehicles have experienced explosive growth. In 2022, my country's new energy vehicle production and sales will complete 7.058 million units and 6.887 million units respectively, a year-on-year increase of 96.9% and 93.4% respectively. The number of public charging piles continues to grow, reaching 1.797 million units in 2022.
The report shows that after bidding farewell to the subsidy era in 2022, the new energy vehicle industry has shown four major characteristics. First, the competition in the new energy vehicle market has become fierce. Under fierce competition, the market boundaries between SUVs and sedans, pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, and mainstream price ranges have become clear, and market segmentation tracks have continued to expand. Second, domestic smart driving vehicles have now developed into the assisted driving stage. The smart driving industry follows the development path of "spiral rising and wave forward". The smart driving industry is gradually ushering in the triple inflection point of technology, regulations, and user acceptance. Third, the pace of industrial internationalization is accelerating. 2022 is the golden year for China's new energy vehicles to go overseas, with new energy exports reaching 679,000 vehicles. Fourth, the power battery industry is developing rapidly. In 2022, the total domestic power battery production will be 545.9GWh, a year-on-year increase of 148.5%; the total installed vehicle volume will be 294.6GWh, a year-on-year increase of 90.7%.
In terms of the number of new energy vehicles per 1,000 people, Shanghai and Shenzhen will have more than 50 vehicles per 1,000 people in 2022, and Hangzhou, Beijing, and Guangzhou will be at a comparable level, all exceeding 30 vehicles. In terms of production, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan will Relatively stable development, Shanghai and Shenzhen will have higher output of new energy vehicles in 2022, reaching 988,600 and 874,700 respectively. In terms of the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the provinces and cities where the cities are located, the penetration rate in Shanghai exceeds 50%, and the penetration rate in many provinces remains above 30%. In terms of the number of charging piles, Guangdong Province has built 383,000 charging piles, leading the country.
Judging from the number of OEMs and listed companies, the number of OEMs in Beijing, Chongqing, Wuhan and Guangzhou reaches more than 10. Among new energy vehicles, Guangzhou has the largest number of listed companies, with the number reaching more than 100, followed by Chongqing. , about 70 companies.
The report also pointed out that the "spindle" product structure of new energy vehicles is becoming increasingly clear, and the technical routes of commercial vehicles are diversified and parallel; indicators such as power battery energy density, safety, and economy are further optimized; overseas market opportunities and challenges coexist, and domestic brands are accelerating overseas localization layout; supply chain risk links such as chips and battery strategic metals urgently need to be coordinated; new energy vehicles and new power systems have great potential for integrated and coordinated development; technology leads the transformation of the automobile industry, from bicycle intelligence to ecological intelligence; domestic vehicle operating systems are facing During the window period, data applications ushered in great development.
