People's Daily Online, Beijing, August 31 (Reporter Sun Hongli) Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Shu Jueting said at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Commerce on August 31 that measures will be introduced in the near future to improve the development level of processing trade and promote new energy vehicle trade. Cooperation and other special policies and measures will be used to promote import and export stability and improve quality.
Shu Jueting pointed out that since the beginning of this year, my country's foreign trade has withstood multiple pressures. Against the background of falling international market demand, imports and exports in RMB from January to July (the same below) increased by 0.4%, achieving overall smooth operation and showing strong performance. Resilience and endogenous power continue to increase, mainly reflected in the following three aspects:
First, from the perspective of entities, the number of foreign trade enterprises has increased and their vitality has increased. The vast number of business entities are the cornerstone of foreign trade development. From January to July this year, there were more than 550,000 foreign trade companies with import and export performance, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. Among them, 478,000 private companies, accounting for more than 80%, continue to play the role of "stabilizer" of foreign trade.
Second, from a product perspective, the export competitiveness of high-quality, high-tech and high value-added products has increased. Exports of the "three new items" represented by new energy vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries remained strong, with a total increase of 51% from January to July. The technical level of my country's new energy vehicle industry continues to improve, and overseas marketing channels and after-sales service systems continue to improve, and have been successfully sold to more than 160 countries and regions.
Third, from the perspective of business formats, new momentum for foreign trade development is accelerating. Cross-border e-commerce has maintained rapid development. In the first half of the year, imports and exports increased by 16%, and the proportion of total foreign trade imports and exports rose from less than 1% five years ago to about 5%. There are more than 100,000 cross-border e-commerce entities and nearly 700 industrial parks of various types. New models such as live broadcast e-commerce and social e-commerce continue to emerge, becoming an important channel for foreign trade companies and products to go overseas.
Shu Jueting said that in the next step, efforts will be made to reduce the burden and increase vitality of foreign trade companies from the following aspects: First, facilitate cross-border business personnel exchanges. The Ministry of Commerce will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Aviation Administration, the Immigration Bureau and other departments to work together to promote the resumption of flights by Chinese and foreign airlines and increase flights, and provide more convenient entry and exit visa services.
The second is to support enterprises’ domestic and overseas exhibition marketing. We will successfully host important exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo, the Canton Fair, and the China Service Trade Fair. Increase support for personnel from foreign trade companies to participate in overseas exhibitions and conduct overseas marketing.
The third is to improve the level of foreign trade financial services. Increase export credit support for foreign trade enterprises, especially small, medium and micro enterprises. Expand the scale and coverage of export credit insurance to protect enterprises in exploring markets.
Shu Jueting also said that in the near future, the Ministry of Commerce will successively introduce special policies and measures to improve the development level of processing trade and promote new energy vehicle trade cooperation, and make every effort to promote the stability and quality of import and export.
